Yea...we were there, played a bit of floorball, slacked in the top floor playing bridge, 14 of us, among which 11 after a Thai Express dinner went to lor's house, did certain unmentionable things to his house (check), watched soccer, played more bridge (check), left at 3.30 am to the airport, sent cw off, and tiaoed xinyi another million times (check).

The new batch is huge! 51 of them, seems like the precedent for coming years. More on other pages.

my turn to appear :P i thought this blog was dead...

national day:
i won't say i am the most patriotic person around... but being away makes u miss small little things like the food, the convenience of public transport, the ability to walk around at night... although ndp has become the same, the fireworks no longer amaze me that much and lee hsien loong has not made any changes to the rally speech, it's the spirit that makes it national day... whether it is big 40% sales or the simultaneous wearing of red... u may be cynical and say its rubbish... but it really makes a difference... and as a side note, wanting to break bond does not make u unpatriotic... nor are pple who serve their bonds particularly patriotic... haha...

seven swords:
it was good! haha.. though i hated the censorship... the girl's sword was freaking cool...

P.S. Charlotte: A*STAR just kindly forwarded another article abt the "failed Bio Valley"...
To anyone who hasn't watched seven swords.... plz plz plz... just either download it or wait for them to show it on TV... absolute waste of 2 hours... more like a mutiliation of Liang Yu-Sheng's novel... the movie is just about as disjointed as my post is...

Is it SMU or is Kopitiam food always so expensive... $8 for a bowl of big prawn noodle just seems so overpriced... what happened to cheap school canteen food?

To anyone who subscribes to cable TV, can someone enlighten me on how often they show basketball games?

And to anyone who wants to read the novel, I have the e-book version so u can just save up the seven dollars for a weekday ticket for another show...

Well NEWSFLAH... reservist is now cut to 10 years for guys... no Xiao Kai... u can stop checking... woot...
Well... I was never one to brag about being a patriot and say that Singapore is best in everything etc etc yet i can't help but feel thankful for all that we have here. We've really progressed damn far in 40 years and we have a capable government to thank for that. Things could have been really different. We may read about how embarassing it is to be identified overseas because of our kiasuness or other inconsiderate habits and stuff but hey, I say im proud to be Singaporean and I'm glad i did my part in NS. On the individual scale NS seems like a total waste of time, but there's so much more that the whining majority dont see. About how we wouldn't be able to survive if not for our civilian soldiers making their mark in the region. Woah. I sound a tad fanatic huh. So anyway HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE congrats for making it here with everyone (almost) being able to sing and dance about it without having to worry where their next meal is coming from or where to find shelter for the night.

PS And I'm damn proud of my guys from 1st CDO. Best Combat Unit, For Honour and Glory.
But it's Malaysia's National Day Parade that coined the word boring!

Wednesday, August 10, 2005

national day parade is boring, period.
the funniest thing I've heard recently was that the ufo thing on top of the supreme court is supposed to take lky to heaven..
Always interesting to see what new things they going to show/ message they going to send/ what's new in the PM's message... not quite amazingly... nothing has changed... do u feel cheated huh morris... why become a citizen....

On a sidenote... LKY must have consulted a very powerful geomancer to help him choose a date to become independent... i can't seem to remember a National Day parade being washed out by the rain...

And... ooOOhhh... Odacia's around the corner... at the new campus... if only not just about everyone was leaving after that...
hi all...i never felt so patriotic till i left singapore and came overseas to study. just tend to miss home more now.

the singaporeans in my hostel were all decked out in red and white and the hostel cooked singapore food for everyone. then i made a brief speach telling the whole world about singapore...quite hilarious actually...haha.

we then gathered in some appartment to watch the live webcast.

talking about patriotism, i think having lively debates with those malaysians about our policies stuff like actually makes us feel more patriotic..haha. they love to attack us and criticise our policies.
*cough*
and I was actually following the live webcast during lunch...
*cough*

just because I live in a house of 'patriotic' singaporeans who all want to break bond and work overseas...
I feel so unpatriotic. While everyone was hot sweaty and sticky going goo goo ga ga over fireworks with purty colours i was enjoying dinner at a comfy restaurant with my friend laughing at everyone else who were hot sweaty and sticky going goo goo ga ga over fireworks with purty colours.

Beam.

Uh... happy national day?

:D

Aww...someone wishes well for the tiny smudge off the country that is truly asia...

National Days seem more and more propaganda-laden to me as the years go by :(

um, morris came from the land of red-and-white also!
Happy National Day!

from the non-red&white-affliated one...

THANK YOU VERY MUCH EVERYONE!! Honestly i dun feel 21 but i shall not elaborate that over here....

Well i've been really busy lately with orientation and all --- been meeting lots of pretty gals and im glad science fac has more girls than guys around. And although the guys keep talking about army still i suppose i can live with that ---- and yes in case u havent realised yet im pretty much brain dead --- on my 21st bday somemore!!! *sulk*

But yes here a big thankew to everyone who wished me happy birthday!! (except you charl.) will urmmm blog more when im urmmmmm less tired. haha
happy birthday xiaokai!! yar feels gd to be able to blog here. yes pls do sth this coming winter!!!
YEAH. People, we need to pledge to meet in California this winter... otherwise there won't be another chance when the whole of odac overseas will be meeting in full force. Resist all other winter programmes! Come to California! We could do a road trip to the National Parks, go to LA and Las Vegas... I don't know how realistic is that cos I am not familiar with the geography.

If you need one confirmed member, it's me. Cos afterall, I just have to stay where I am hah.
Cough xiaokai. Just as you wouldn't go climbing Belumut without a poncho, remember to protect yourself when conquering other mountains.
Words of Wisdom from the great Xiao Kai...

"i mean for one, im 21 and im noteven laid yet [...] being laid? well i think its kinda great --- it symbolises a conqueration of the opposite sex"

LOL! Happy 21st Birthday!!!
(and I warned you I'd do this...)
